Dr Colin Brown, FRACS
Ear Specialist Surgeon for Children and Adults
Dr Brown has been rated by Southern Cross clients 2019/2020/2021/2022 as one of the best ENT specialists in New Zealand.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (since 1995) and qualified in Medicine 1986 (University of Otago). He is a past President of the Australasian society of Paediatric Otolaryngology (ANZSPO). He is also a director of "Hearing House" Habilitation/Rehabilitation centre. He specialises in surgery of the ear, and children's ENT disorders. He has been a consultant at Starship for 25 years, treating a wide variety of children's ear disorders and hearing losses. He is a senior surgeon within the Northern Regional Cochlear implant programme and coordinates multi disciplinary meetings concerning the care of deaf children and their progress with cochlear implants and hearing aids. His work with creating ear canals for children born without ears, has translated into a career long interest expertise in treating ear canals narrowed by cold water exposure ( Surfer's Ear) in adults. Dr Brown has two adult daughters and his wife works in public healthcare funding for Te Whatu Ora ( NZ Healthcare).
Gill Lane
Nursing & Practice Manager
She is a NZ registered Nurse, and has worked in a variety of Nursing environments, but most recently has managed the Brown’s Bay Medical Centre, which has a large team of doctors and nurses.
Gill has two adult sons. She has a huge wealth of knowledge and will be able to help and advise you.

Hilary Hope Sotherton
Practice Manager
Hilary is a people pleaser. There is no length to which she wont go to help our patients and clients. She has worked with Dr Brown for many years now, and has managed medical practices in New Zealand and London over much of her life.
Hilary also had language skills in Africaans and Portugeuse, and is an accomplished artist. She has two adult daughters, and 4 grandsons.
